YOUTH IN THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH
We are excited about the vibrant group of youth who call FCC their home! Youth are a vital and active part of the church. They are involved in mission, worship, and all areas of service. They also find time for activities like lock-ins, a Fall Festival on the church grounds, summer camps, and creative fundraisers to support their mission activities.
Each week’s activities vary and may include everything from service projects to rounds of bowling. Regular youth gatherings occur on Sunday afternoons and evening when youth enjoy fellowship, eat supper together and then split into age-specific groups. A typical schedule includes:
Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF), 3rd-5th grades meet 4 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5 p.m.-5:30 p.m. – All youth (3rd-12th)
Chi-Rhos, 6th-8th grades meet from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) 9th-12th grades meet from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
SUMMER CAMPS & CONFERENCES
Summer camps and conferences for all age groups (K-12) take place at Disciples Crossing in Athens, Texas, and Camp Couchdale in Hot Springs. These camps are amazing times for fellowship, growth, new friendships and faith development for youth of all ages!!
Youth can participate in weekend-long mission trips and youth rallies throughout the school year. Retreats take place at Camp Couchdale (outside Hot Springs) and mission weekends have taken place throughout Mississippi and Louisiana. These weekends help provide a time for youth to “recharge” their faith amidst the stresses of the school year.
